Madcatter 44 is canceled.  Who else?

The International Olympic Committee said in a joint statement with the Prime Minister’s Office in Japan that the Olympic Games, which had been scheduled to start in Tokyo in July, would be rescheduled to a date “beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021.”

The N.B.A. suspended its season, shortly after a March 11 game between the Utah Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder was halted just before tip-off. A player for the Jazz tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Kentucky Derby, the first jewel in horse racing’s Triple Crown, said late Monday that it was breaking with the tradition of holding the race on the first Saturday in May and would hold it on Sept. 5 instead.

NASCAR said that it was suspending all racing through May 3.

The Indianapolis 500, which is held annually over the Memorial Day weekend and was originally scheduled for May 24, has been rescheduled for Sunday, Aug. 23.

Major League Soccer suspended its season for at least 30 days, beginning March 12, less than two weeks after matches began on Feb. 29. The season is scheduled to run through Oct. 4. The National Hockey League also said it would pause its season. Major League Baseball pushed back its season opening by at least two weeks and suspended spring training games.

Wimbledon, which was scheduled from June 29 to July 12, will not be held in 2020. The tournament, the oldest tennis Grand Slam event, had previously been canceled only during World War I and World War II.

The French Open, set for late May, has been postponed until Sept. 20.

The N.C.A.A. canceled the men’s and women’s Division I basketball tournaments, in addition to all remaining winter and spring N.C.A.A. championships. The association’s initial response to the crisis called for tournament games to be played without fans in the arenas.

Many international sporting events have been postponed, including Six Nations and Women’s Six Nations rugby matches that had been scheduled for February and March, and the Hong Kong and Singapore Sevens. The Boston Marathon and the Masters golf tournament, two of America’s oldest sporting events, were postponed because of the virus.

Others have taken place with major changes, like the Tokyo Marathon, which was restricted to elite runners. Formula One has said that its upcoming Grand Prix in Bahrain will be closed to spectators, while the Chinese Grand Prix, which had been scheduled for April, was postponed.

2020 Come Sail With Us Day

You are Invited!

“Our Open House” Saturday June 6th, 11am-4pm

Hobie Cat sailing is a great sport and fun activity for you and your whole family. Sailing is very
affordable and easier to learn than it looks. Our Come Sail With Us Day will give you the
opportunity to take one for a “test drive” with an experienced skipper. If you haven’t sailed
before no problem, its your chance to try one of these great sailboats or other Hobie kayaks or
paddle boards! Bring a friend or two, just let us know by RSVP by June 3rd.

We’ll start at 11am with a brief overview of Hobie Cat sail boating and other crafts co-hosted by
South Bay Sail and Kayak. We’ll team you up with an experienced Hobie skipper who will give
you further basic instructions and answer questions. Be our guest for a picnic lunch, hot dogs
and hamburgers at noon. After lunch we’ll suit you up with a PFD and set out from shore as
crew with your qualified skipper for a great ride on beautiful Oneida Lake. You’ll also get to try
out the other Hobie water crafts, kayaks and paddle boards displayed at the CNY Boat Show.

To participate, bring water shoes and a PFD (Life Vest if you own one), we’ll have extras in case
you don’t. We have changing rooms to get into your bathing suits, bring a towel to dry off with

after. Depending on wind/weather conditions, children ages 12-17 will be allowed to partici-
pate with written parental permission and a parent on site. Should there be rain, thunder or

too much/strong wind predicted we’ll notify you 24 hours in advance by email and or phone,
and postpone to our rain date the next day, Sunday June 7th. Everyone participating will be
required to sign a safety release form. You must RSVP to reserve a spot to participate, once
we hear from you we’ll confirm and provide all final details. If you can’t make it at 11am, we’ll
be there until 4pm. There is no cost to participate. Contact us if you have questions.
